How to make an educational game Pick a carrot
The formation of different skills in a child occurs at different times. For example, a pinched grip (when the thumb and forefinger are involved) is formed closer to the year. A little earlier, a tweezer grip appears, in which the middle finger additionally participates. To practice these skills, it is useful to engage with the baby. For this purpose, we propose to make a home-made educational game “Collect a Carrot”. And the whole process of its creation is shown in our master class.
To make such an educational game, we have prepared:
- cardboard base from under the eggs;
- orange chenille wire;
- light green yarn;
- scissors.
This craft will help develop your baby’s pinch grip. This will be facilitated by the very collection of carrots, when the child takes up the green tops and pulls it towards himself. To create the tops, we use light green yarn, cut it into small pieces (about 10-12 cm long). For one carrot, four strings will be enough for us.
Now we take the orange chenille wire, we will make a carrot out of it. We fold the chenille wire, and at the place of the fold we skip light green threads.
We fix these threads with a knot.
Next, we begin to form the carrot itself. To do this, we begin to wind the long end of the orange chenille wire onto the short one.
We got this carrot.
By the same principle, we make another carrot. They can be performed in different lengths, then at the same time you can work out with the child, comparing the sizes of carrots with each other.
The bed in our case will be a cardboard egg tray. On the tops of its base we make holes with scissors, in some cases the packages already have such holes.
This is what carrots growing in our homemade garden will look like.
Grasping with fingers, the child will be able to pull out the carrot.
