Quilling Paper Butterfly
Twisting narrow paper strips with their subsequent transformation into various figures is known as quilling. For these purposes, blanks of various widths can be used; a special tool will also be required. As a rule, most of the created crafts in this technique are flat. In the future, they can be used to design postcards. We offer to make a butterfly from thin strips of paper, which will decorate any greeting card. The process of making such a butterfly using the quilling technique is shown in our master class.

To create such a craft, we will prepare:
- paper strips of various colors (we use 5 mm wide);
- special tool for twisting strips;
- PVA glue;
- ruler in the form of a template;
- scissors.

Before starting work, it is important to decide on the color of the future butterfly. For our craft, we chose that the butterfly wings will be made in blue and orange. Therefore, to create them, we will prepare 3 strips of blue and 2 orange.

Cut one blue stripe in half. We will need these pieces to create the upper wings.

We glue this half with a whole strip of orange.

We start the twisting process with orange, in which case this color will be inside the wing.After that, carefully place the twisted strips in a template with a size of 20 mm, while allowing the strips to straighten out.

Then we need to take out the twisted strips, and fix their tip with a drop of glue.

By the same principle, we make another blank from an orange strip and half a blue one. These will be blanks for the upper wings.

Let’s give them the appropriate shape, for this it is enough to slightly squeeze the workpiece on one side.

Next, you can start making the lower wings. For each of them we need one blue stripe. We twist it and place it in a template, but already smaller – 15 mm.

We take it out, then glue the tip.

We need to make 2 blanks of this size.

Let’s give each of them a teardrop shape, for this we gently squeeze them on one side.

Here are the wings we got. You can choose a different color scheme for your butterfly.

For the body and antennae, we will use a brown stripe. We cut off a small piece from it (about 8 cm), this will be a blank for the antennae.

We roll a roll from a large piece of brown strip, then place it in a ruler with a size of 20 mm.

We take it out, and carefully fix the tip with glue.

Then you need to squeeze the workpiece from both sides. So we will give it the shape of the body of our butterfly.

Fold the blank for the antennae in half.

We twist the ends with a special tool.

Now we can start assembling our butterfly. First, we glue her wings in pairs.

Then glue them to the brown body.

It remains to glue the antennae. Our quilling butterfly is ready.
